Ok, to start things off, This isnt about Razer, like most of my recent posts.

Ahem,

So I have an old laptop. Like, came w/ windows 8, old. It has windows issues such as desktop stops responding. So, I got my windows 10 Activation key off of it, then gave the Hard Drive to a Friend to get important files off of it. So, when I get an SSD for it, what would I have to do?

I wanna Start fresh btw.

Download the windows 10 media creation tool, give it a flash drive to use, and boot from it by holding I think escape when you power on the machine. From here it should be fairly straightforward

Ok, just would there be any issues with using an already used windows key?

You won't even need to type it in - Windows detects it and selects the correct version (pro, home, etc) automatically

Yeah when you install windows on a machine that originally had 8/8.1/10, there is a key written in the BIOS chip that the installer reads, if it finds, it, it will automatically use it and skip the box that asks for the key.

Boot to USB installer

Select the empty drive

Install to empty drive

Reboot into the fresh OS

Disable every switch when setting up personal settings

Install drivers through device manager/laptop vendor's website

Install google chrome

Ready to use!
