I want to play ark survival evolved at 60 fps lock wit a gtx 1070 or 1080 idk yet but I know that open would games are hard on cpu but how much of a difference is there if it's under 8 fps then Id buy the i3 but if it's more I will save up for what is the minimum power I need to not bottleneck the gpu

An i5 will bottleneck a 1080 so you need an i7 at least to pretty much eliminate any bottlenecks if you go that route. An i5 and 1070 might produce a small bottleneck but an i3 would definitely bottleneck a 1070 by a good margin.

If you play on 1080/1440p at 60FPS, and i5 or Ryzen 5 will do the job. Do not go for the i3 at all.

If you plan on playing on 60+FPS or at 4K, consider an i7 or Ryzen 7 CPU.

I can see no difference between a i5 and 7 just that the 7 is wast of money with more heat and less clock speed and lot more money

If you go with an i5 CPU, then go with a 7600k or 6600k and a GTX 1070.

If you go with an i7 series CPU, then preferably a 770k to pair up with a 1080.

If you're playing Ark, you can also get away with a Pentium G4560 with a GTX 1060, for budget-friendly build and still manage 60 FPS at 1080p with tweaked settings.

I'd suggest going with a quad-core, at least. i5-6600 or R5-1600 should be your choices.

I am playing at 1080p 1440p and 4k on ark survival evolved is impossible seeing that the 1080ti barley hits 70fps on a good day

That's an Ark problem. They pushed nearly all graphical calculations reliant on the CPU which makes no sense.

Go for a Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600X and you're good to go then. A good intel option would be i5-7500/i5-7600 (get the K version if you know how to overclock only). An i7 won't change much at this resolution, so it's not worth considering.

The i5 7500 was what I was going to get in the 1st place but then I saw vids of people using a i3 and lower and put there money in to a 1060 or a 580 and got grate fps but they were not using ark so I have no idea what to use

ahhh okay you should have mentioned 1440p and 4k then, I just assumed you were trying to cap a steady 60fps and assumed on 1080p

Sorry, bit distracted since i'm responding to multiple posts atm. But if you just want 60fps at 1080p, then my recommended CPU/GPU would be the best. If you want to go the amd route too then I recommend ryzen 5 1400 with a gtx 1060, or rx 480-580 and you will still cap 60 fps steady at 1080p no problem.

The quad core is recommended for ark but I would also recommend planning to get 6 or 8 cores, if you're hosting your own server in ARK.

Ya on all games but ark survival lol

Like I said the 1080ti can't do much more then 70 fps in ark max graphics so a 1060 would stand no chance but I just need 60 fps on hi and I will be happy

The thing is with ark, it has massive optimization problems. I found AMD cards to be running it better than its intel-counterpart of the same tier.

I think I will get a i5 7500 seeing that I already was going with that cpu and I have the motherboard for it and cooler just wanted to see if anyone could sight a source where a less expensive cpu would do the same in ark but gess not

Don't buy a RX series card right now though, the prices are almost doubled for any 470/570 and 480/580 cards due to ethereum mining demand. A RX 580 isn't worth 500-600 unless you are mining.
