hi everyone!

for college next year im goeïng to upgrade my thrusty dell latitude d630 to something more powerfull.

The only problem is: i don't really know witch one to chose.

a couple things.

1. All macbooks are out of the running!! this is because solidworks does not run on macos

2. im not a big fan of the red and black colorscheme/gamerlook. im a big fan of the xps15 but its a bit too expensive

3. as i said before i need to run solidworks on it so a dgpu is a must, i can live with a geforce chip. i will use a workaround for the stuff that does not work without a quadro.

4. some more specs, 15 inch screen (1080p is fine) core I7, 16gb ram and a nvme drive if possible. a thunderbold port would be nice.

5. good batterylife as i will be travelling with it alot

6. my budget is about 1200 euro incl 21% tax so about 990 euro without tax.

any suggestions?

thanks in advance!

kars

Hi, I am also in the same position as you @karsnoordhuis - I also have similar requirements!

The only other thing I would want is some degree of easy upgradeability to future-proof the system and an above average keyboard for college work.

Hopefully, we can get some recommendations from the community!

For that price, you're looking at Dell 7567s.

Mayber a GL502VM is you're lucky.

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/optimusVIII-15/ <- is a good option if you can DIY everything. Cut the Win10 from the price and it's pretty solid. get all the drives and ram yourself. i5 + 1050ti is best value.

I'd still take the Dell 7567 though.
