Provided it is mounted properly (everything is screwed in, thermal paste on the processor, etc) you should be fine.  As long as the heatsink is firm against the cpu so the heat can be conducted away from the processor.

 

My advice is to boot up the machine, if this is a brand-new computer then just install Windows or sit in the bios and monitor the processor temperature.  Run a benchmark and google the normal temperatures for your processor.  If it is within that margin chances are it is all good. 

 

It is possible that installing your cooler the way you did, and having the heatsink not completely centered vertically might reduce the cooling, but only slightly and I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes an issue.  Modern processors can handle significant heat.
