Which SSD

Should I get SiliconPower S55 120GB or Kingston UV400 120Gb, The employee is telling me SiliconPower is best buy low tier SSD but I kinda want Kingston cus it's newer from 2016 and SP S55 is from 2013?

So which one is better, they got same amount of storage and similar Read/Write speeds.

SP is probably the better choice.

 

Kingston SSDs are usually pretty bad, but the UV400 is especially bad. They use a bunch of changing components and the quality changes very quickly from batch to batch. It's pretty much a gamble. At release, they were amazing (hence amazing reviews) but it seems like they've replaced a bunch of crucial components and it's pretty sketchy now.

 

SP on the other hand is rather consistent and you know what you can expect. It's probably not as good as the UV400 could be, but it's a lot safer to assume that it is going to be better.

 

Pretty sure someone on the forums has an SSD tier list somewhere, so you can go look for that if you need more reference.

UV400 is shit 95% of the time get the SpS55. Can you get a Sk Hynix, PNY, Sandisk or Adata SSD? Great budget options

Thank you, SpS55 is on discount atm so I think I'll go with that. Worth getting 240 GB version for 20$ more?
