How to start bitcoin mining on windows?

Go to solution Solved by ShikuTeshi,

It's not recommended to mine Bitcoins on a CPU or GPU, but if you have free electricity then go ahead.

However, you're FAR better off mining altcoin like Ethereum or Zcash.

If you REALLY want to mine Bitcoins, then go to https://slushpool.com/home/. It's a Bitcoin mining pool with a guide on how to get started.

If you want to mine an altcoin, which I highly recommend, then go to...

http://zcash.flypool.org/ for Zcash mining (It supports CPU mining, and performs great on Nvidia GPUs)

or

https://ethermine.org/ for Ethereum mining (It works great on AMD GPUs, but I don't believe it supports CPU mining.)

Hi

I've been trying to get my head round bitcoin but its super confusing. I've read that you can use a CPU or GPU anymore is this true? I've read that you can join pools but is there a way to mine by yourself?

Basically I have a number of servers with lots of cores not doing much and free electricity. The servers are running Windows Server 2016. What do I need to do and what software do I use? May there a good tutorial on how to start independently and on windows ?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend that you DON'T mine with a CPU or GPU. It's really not worth doing. If you want to do serious Bitcoin mining for profit, go for cloud mining or anything that is not using your PC.

I say jiggly-bytes when I see "GB".

It goes down better than you would expect.

Why not? From what I've read its the power that's the concern and thats free in my case.

The OP specifically said Bitcoins, not some altcoin like Ethereum.
