The processor native support is of 2400mhz, which means to run higher frequency ram you need a motherboard that features XMP profiles, which I am very sure any x299 will have.

Then all you have to do is buy a stick of the desirable frequency you want, I personally recommend Corsair Vengeance at 3200mhz and enable that speed through the XMP profile on the BIOS settings.

Thing about Corsair is the g.skill costs the same and you get a lower CAS

Well that part is on you, whatever you prefer just make sure the motherboard you pick can support your desirable memory frequency through its XMP profiles.

Im buying the skylake x and it says it only supports up to ddr4-2400 is there any way around that to get higher

?

Just out of curiosity, what made you settle on the x299/SkylakeX architecture?

Don't get me wrong, I am an Intel fanboi. I am just curious as to what you are planning to do with this new machine.
