I am going to attempt to overclock my 6600k to 4.5/4.6GHz. First I have a couple of questions.

1. Do I just change my core multiplier and voltage? (Am I missing something?)

2. What voltage should I try to aim for? (Avg Voltage for most people/Maximum Voltage for Skylake)

3. How long should I stress test for?

4. What programs should I use for stress testing? (I currently use Intel's Stress Test Program, but I am not sure what else to use)

5. If I overclock, how much less lifespan will my CPU loose?

Here are my specs:

h100i Water Cooler

6600k

16GB DDR4 @ 3000MHz

GTX 1070
Asus Z170-A Motherboard

Tech enthusiast and CS Student

no, you got it.

1.35v maximum safe voltage

5 minutes while overclocking, 12+ hours after you've settled down.

as long as its not prime95 it works.

barely, as long as you dont get unlucky like me.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.
