RAID 10 Speeds

So I have a HP MicroServer with 4 1tb WD Black HDD's.

 

It is connected to my 1gb switch.

 

I was mainly wondering what speeds I should be getting writing to it? Writing from the SSD and a HDD is the same speed, not sure if that is normal?

Write speed could easily be the same. The thing that makes an SSD so quick is the short Random Access Time.

Most of the times yeah.

Depends.

 

Random reads and writes should be better by at least an order of magnitude, and most likely much more.

@RadiatingLight I might do some more testing, I thought maybe it was just the NAS IO (some can be pretty bad)

can only go as fast as your slowest part. read from one to the other or using the network, what were you expecting?

try reading from /dev/null and writing to your drives.
