Hey guys,

My friend saw my computer (R7 1700 in an S340 elite with tons of RGB) and he said he wanted to build a similar looking one.

He only wants to spend around $1000, and he's coming from a MBP 2015 13". He doesn't game at all, and I was thinking about selling him my 280x when VEGA comes out (just for something decent).

So, looks are a pretty big priority, and since it's not an expensive build (especially with Australian rupees) I've been having trouble coming up with something less than $1000 for him (I spent $3k on mine so more budget speccing im finding difficult).

What my current thoughts are is a Phanteks P400S TG, paired with a Ryzen 5 1500X or an i5 7500 with a ~250GB SSD in order to be a good deal faster than his Mac, but as I said I am finding this difficult.

Thanks,

Ben

EDIT - he would also appreciate a RGB header on his motherboard, whatever vendor is fine.

If I've said something wrong, please correct me

What is he doing with the PC?

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Or this:

@DocSwag

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Lots of coding, document editing, schoolwork. Nothing super intensive but want a fast machine. Maybe some unreal or unity, and basic CAD now and then.
