I'm building a general purpose PC for my family, this system will primarily consist of video streaming, heavy browser use, MS Office use and a few other things, there will not be any gaming at all.

before buying I'd let to get other opinions, please note that this is in Australia where we get horrid hardware pricing compared to the US, my budget is 1000AUD (750 USD) not including shipping.

I would personally drop the NVMe SSD and go for a regular SATA, and upgrade your graphics card to something relatively decent, and I'd probably even suggest going used. I snagged a 280x for $100, and i'm pretty sure there's some deals going for cheaper cards (I think on eBay I saw a 270x going for $60 or so).

Even though you're not gaming on it, a better GPU can help drive better monitors later on if you choose to upgrade, and it can help things like video playback in Youtube.

If I've said something wrong, please correct me

Quite honestly, this is way overkill for what you're doing.

All you need is a G4560+maybe 16gb ram if you open a lot of tabs, a 250gb ssd, and you could just use iGPU. I don't even see you needing more than 250gb ssd :P.

Also, NVMe is a waste, and that psu isn't very good.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I would tick off some of that stuff.

If you get a Pentium or i3 you wont need a GPU

low capacity SATA SSD. web browsing + windows you dont need much right?

1X 8GB RAM stick is preferable to 2X 4GB. You wont need more than 8GB for now.

I dont know if you need 2 TB HDD, but you can get cheap OEM drives from companies that sell laptops in 500GB and 1TB. They pull them out from customers who purchase upgrades and sell them cheap, just call up and ask.

USB backup drive?

You can find a cheaper case. I dont see anything special about that one.

If you have time to wait, Ryzen APU will be out later in the year.
