Hey, this is the first time building a PC, im not even sure if this is the right place to ask, so please dont hate me.

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700k

GPU: Asus Strix 1080ti

CPU Cooler: Thermaltake - Water 3.0 Riing Rgb 360 AIO

Motherboard: Asus Maximus IX Formula

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 4x8 GB DDR4-2400

Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB SSD, Seagate Firecuda 2TB Hybrid

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850w Gold 80+

Monitor: Acer x34a

For the case, this is what makes me a bit questioning, either the Dark base 900 pro (orange/black) or the Thermaltake view 31tg rgb.

And is a RGB PSU even worth it if you face it downwards?

So, my plan is to play everything 60fps + on ultrawide. And i think that should do, since i'll place it on my desk, i also want it to look nice, and not so plain.

So are those a good choice to go with? My budget is whatever as long as it doesnt break like 6-7k+, since its my first and only build for like a few years.

So main questions: RGB PSU worth it if faced downwards? Which case would be better in my case?

If i need to link anything, please tell me. Like i said its my first post here and im not sure if im doing this right at all.

What about these 3 cases from Phanteks: black, white, silver

If you truly intend to flip the case on its side, maybe RGB won't make a lot of sense for you, since you will not be able to see the components anyway (even with windowside facing upwards). Why would you do that anyway :D Oh and most cases have a psu shroud (at least the higher priced ones). Do you intend to stream too?

I will be honest, I probably wouldn't get a RGB psu, but looking at the Budget you have (usd i assume) you can go over the top how ever you please. Maybe watercooling with some slick tubing would be a cool idea too.

Looks good to me. For the case either are fine, whichever looks better to you really, I like the View 31 since it's mid tower so it'll be smaller, easier if you want it on your desk. Many would say an RGB PSU is stupid but if you really want it then why not? You'll be able to see it with either of those cases since they don't have a psu shroud.

Consider using https://pcpartpicker.com/ to make a parts list, it will show you the cheapest place to buy anything and let people make edits to it easily to help you find what's best.

@honor those Cases arent my style, they look good tho. Hmm? Flip the case? Did i say that O_o? No i dont plan on streaming. Just maybe a bit of browsing while playing smaller games. And costume watercooling i heared is alot of maintenance. So i rather stick to an AIO. I pay with € not usd.

@Le Sulfur I heard some stuff about the Tg31 tho like the fans and stuff arent included and they just use those pictures as lure, and it doesnt have an ssd drive slot, and the card blocks a few drive bays. So that kind of threw me off.

Oh okay. I wanted to use it but didnt find where to copy the list without having long ass links. Unfortunately, the prices are always the cheapest, atleast in germany they dont show the cheapest.

@dude49 Hmm. Kraken to me doesnt look that great. and why 5 tb of SSD? I'll probably just put my Games on there, and 1 tb is more than enough i think for alooot of games. And 10 tb storage, i doubt i ever use up the 2tb. The Corsair 1080ti looks nice and watercooled, but not aura sync :P. Case looks good, i have to check that out some more. and the case fans too. I already have a Keyboard and Mouse picked, forgot to add that.

Defo the Phanteks Evolv. I'm getting the dark grey ATX Glass one, and it looks to be on point. Can't wait till it gets here!

If the OP wants to flip the case on the side, I'd reccomend a Corsair Air series case, as they're designed for that. But the Evolv kills them for looks.

And yes, defo watercooling.

I also like the case a lot. Recently bought the silver one, and the quality is outstanding. Oh and he doesn't intend to flip it, I have misunderstood OP :D

Awesome! Can't wait to get mine, I've pretty much only heard positives about them. Now I've just got to get my hands on a new 1440p monitor, a solid GPU, and Ryzen. Then Battlefront 2 when it comes out.

@Zando Bob From what i read the Crosshair VI Hero has tons of issues. And do i really need a that fast SSD? Always asked myself if i do, for just gaming. 2x 1080ti i'd go for that, but ill upgrade that once the new Acer/Asus 4k 144hz screens are coming. So i'll stick to 1x first, that should be plenty for ultrawide.

And like i said, i dont want a costum loop, because i heard it takes lots of maintaince, which i dont really want to do.

And isnt the i7-7700k better in gaming? I know its worse in multitasking, but do i really need multitasking, if the only thing i multitask is runescape3?

It's probably an earlier article. Pretty much all issues have been sorted out except for the rise of the tomb raider issue.

We just went for Ryzen because you didn't state your use case. But it's not that much of a difference. You decide. No more upgrade path for you if you go LGA1151 though :P

@JDE actually there were 5 (or 4?) people commenting that they had issues with it and it was relatively recent. Like i think May this year. I may actually wait for the X299 or Threadripper too.

Main worry Point is still i cant find the right case. The ones i found with side tempered glass and front tempered glass to see the fans, didnt support 360mm radiators on top. This is all really confusing and everytime i think i found something, something shows up and makes me feel wrong about my choice.
