So I'm looking to get my mum a present. A New PC. She has a laptop, which its like 6 years old.

She's an accountant and does her work on the laptop but it can't handle it anymore and i want to get her a reasonably good desktop to do the work on. The PC would be for mainly work related items but i want it to last for awhile.

I'm an Australian with a budget of $600 for the PC and $200 for Peripherals and a monitor.

If anyone could give some suggestions that would be great.

I'm a noob when in comes to Tech Stuff.

Thanks!

australian dollars are almost same as canadian

Makes no difference. Supply and demand.

Prices might be higher in Australia only because of the high shipping costs to the continent.

Prices are usually higher in Australia because our prices include tax, a $100 CPU is actually $90.90 and $9.10 tax, and they are mostly always (with computer parts) US price converted to Australian price timed by 1.1, mostly because people would shop on Amazon US to get their computer parts, because Amazon US has stupidly cheap shipping.
