I want to build, modify or straight out purchase a pc under £40...

And i just want it to run any basic os (i can install some ubuntus ;))

Im thinking maybe a optiplex, some basic modifications.

I have hard-drives, some ram, and basic stuff, you know what i mean.

Would appreciate any opinions

If you have ram and a hard drive already you could get this with the best cpu in the list and that might work for your needs

EDIT:

nvm that site doesn't allow that config

Just the general faffing around with sd cards, burning disks, the literally lack of ability to watch youtube, ect.

maybe try to cluster them?

Try looking around on ebay or craigslist for old pcs

search lowest to highest. I found pcs for 1 dollar

Okay, but be aware that isn't the purpose of the raspberry pis. I suppose that's why you're asking for another option though

just get what is compatible with the ram that you have. also, dual core cpu and a gpu are helpful.
