They're grey area. Probably fine. And any realitivly popular one should work.

If you have a decent gaming rig, I would recommend higan, as it's the most accurate emulator. It also has the flipside of emulating other things.

Well, it might not work for the most accurate mode, but it might do. Give it a try and find out.

Talking about emulators and recommending them are fine, generally. Showing where to get BIOSes/ROMs/etc. isn't.

Different emulators can have trade-offs between emulator accuracy and feature sets and compatibility. Higan is the most accurate emulator, but is lacking in some usability and comfort features - at least the last time I used it, which was years ago.

 

Perfect emulation accuracy also doesn't mean a game will look on a PC as it did on a television when played from an SNES - the game will show harsher edges to the pixels on PC compared to a CRT screen.

 

I use Snes 9X, because I think that with a good graphics filter, an impression closer to the original SNES + TV impression can be had.

I think you're probably fine as long as you aren't talking about sharing pirated ROMs. Similar to discussing torrents, the emulator itself doesn't necessarily have anything to do with piracy.
