Hello

I downloaded a Linux Mint 18.1 ISO and it says that I should verify it. But I can't download the files I need to do so. Is it even necessary to verify the ISO?

Thanks for your hlep!

it does help prevent errors in installation. follow instructions here

https://linuxmint.com/verify.php

download text file from ^ that contains the checksum hash value.

perform sha algorithm on your iso. are you using windows? CertUtil -hashfile linux-mint-filname.iso SHA256

compare the output of sha with the text file.

I like to download iso files by torrent because it has built in verification that I find makes downloading more successful than downloading from web browser. I have downloaded a lot of iso installers and I have not yet had one fail from torrent.

never done it and never had problems installing mint but i know its recomended so its up to you to do it.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
