Need build advice please read carefully

o.OOK let say that all of my PC components consume or need at MAX load 150 Watts, and for some reason, I installed 550 Watts PSU (i know it's an overkill) but I need badly to know what is the worst case scenario here in terms of "longevity" and what risks I may face with this kind of wattage

the custom build as follows:

i3 7100

8GB DDR4 2400 MHz one stick

ASUS B250f gaming

SAMSUNG EVO 960 256GB M.2 NVMe

NZXT H440 Case

and last but not least 550 W PSU:dry:

What do you mean "risks"? You have a PSU that can supply enough power, so you're good. What's the issue?

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

No risks. the power supply wattage is the MAX it can supply to a system, not how much it constantly supplies. using a way higher wattage than you need will cause no harm to the system.

Nothing really would happen unless it's a bad psu. The number on your psu is the maximum watts it can go up to, won't always stay there.

Nothing can go wrong on a normal basis because overkill doesn't mean something will break, you just have tons of wiggle room

Try using the PSU Tier List!

How to reset the bios/clear the cmos

I did mean day theme. I'm having a long day, and this headache doesn't help.

ok maybe I didn't explain enough

the 550W will draw MAX 150W according to my build

ALL the time it will be providing roughly 25% of it's potential and probably less

SYSTEM EFFICIENCY concern

quote "a power supply operates optimally ABOVE 15 to 25 percent of its total capacity that means that your system will actually draw more power from the wall than it has to and your power bill will cost a bit more"

From what you are saying, I believe that your draw will only be around 175w-125w, fluctuating based on what you are doing. Since your psu may be a little unreliable, it will probably provide 480w-525w of power all the time. There are absolutely so risks with this, as your system will never sporadically draw more than the psu can handle, so I see nothing wrong with using it for your build.

It will still work fine. I, for example, have a 750 watt PSU for a system that currently doesn't have the resources to even draw 400 watts. If you're worried about efficiency, just replace it, but that will limit your ability to upgrade.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

the thing I forget to mention is in my area there aren't a lot resources\PC stores

so I am limited to what they offer and I don't want to order online

so the least wattage option the seller had is 550W.

I wouldn't worry about it. You're going to be fine, as long as the power supply is reliable.
