Been looking around for a budget 144Hz monitor, first looked at the XL2540, but i just dont think i can justify dropping 550$ on a monitor right now. So i looked at 3 other monitors, all in the 300-320$ price range, the well known Asus VG248QE that gets pretty good reviews when it comes to price vs performance, but i just cannot do glossy plastic, then i looked at the Benq XL2411, but that seems to get pretty mediocre reviews. In the end someone suggested i take a look at the Viewsonic XG2401, gets good reviews in terms of performance, picture quality (for a TN panel) and its 300$.

Just wondering if anyone in here have any good or bad experiences with this monitor before i pick up one?

I have a GTX970 and i know its a Freesync monitor, but i really dont care that much about GSYNC, sure it might be a cool feature, but it also adds like 100$ + to the price tag.

What dollar are you using, Canadian or USD? The XG2401 should only be about $240-260 USD

Live in Denmark, just converted from dkk to usd, we always pay a little bit more for hardware :(

Ah.

I've been researching freesync monitors for a bit, (more than today.) I've been looking at the ACER XF240h, Asus MG248Q, and Viewsonic XG2401, though I'm interested in these for freesync.

I didn't look into the MG248Q as soon as I saw it has problems with freesync + Displayport.

the XF240h seems great, but the colours are pretty bad on arrival and need tweaking.

the XG2401 seems to be the best out of all of them, however it seemed quality control is a bit bad. If you have a reliable place to RMA the monitor if anything is off, I'd go for the XG2401.

What kind of QC issues? We mostly buy online here and all stores have a 14-30 days return policy, so if you buy something and its broken you just send it back, its a bit of a pain having to mail something back when its something like a monitor or a case for example, but theres atleast the option :)

But reading around it seems like alot of companies have QC issues, even Asus and their rog monitors seems to get quite a lot of negative reviews due to dead or stuck pixels and just bad panels in general.

Most of the reviews i read on the XG2401 seems to be very positive.

Brightness and colour problems to do with the monitor panel itself.

Yes, I think it's just the minority speaking out. IMO the XG2401 looks the best to me, but that's out of the 3 I've just talked about.

I never considered the VG248QE or XL2411 because of being too high in price, or not freesync compatible.

if it's any help I'll likely be getting the XG2401 in the next few months, (if everything goes to plan :P ) and if you still haven't made a purchase I'll let you know what I think.

Just ordered the XG2401. Let you know how it goes in about 2 months or whenever my RX 580 to power it shows up.  :(

I'll let you know what I think of the panel itself but there no way my GTX 460 is hitting 144hz in anything.

The XG2401 Has the best panel quality in terms of colors, contrast gamma and whatnot, slim to no Overshoot/ghosting. And no 144hz quality degradation. For around $250 you're getting a really good TN panel.

Have you tried the XF240h? I've been looking for reviews everywhere but litterley no one did, not even tftcentral

That was one of my reasons for avoiding the XF240h. The only reviews I found were customer reviews.

I've heard that it was actually a pretty decent panel. with no scanlines but colors out of the box being really bad.

If you're using Displayport + Freesync there is a problem with the MG248Q

Google " MG248Q Pixel Problem " if this tickles your fancy.

XG2401 arrived. Haven't opened the box because I just realized I overlooked that my GTX 460 doesn't have any proper connectors for the XG2401, because I'm an idiot.

RX 580 arrives in 4-5 weeks. :\
