In my build I am going with 16gb 3200 ram (g.skill) I was originaly just going for 2400 but I was told that I should go with a higher speed ram as there would be a noticeable difference in speed.

Is this true and what differences can I expect between different ram speed. I know a bit about how ram works but i still don't know all that much. Is it worth going for faster ram or not and what differences can i expect? Thanks!

Yes, it makes a difference but how big it depends on what CPU you got with it and what games you play or if you really try to push FPS as high as possible.

You can always just OC the 2400MHz RAM but that can be a lot of hassle.

Yeah I did think about overclocking but I wasn't that confident, my CPU choice is the i5 6500 but everyone is suggesting going for the ryzen maybe the 1400 or 1500x, do you have any Idea if this would be better?

Wait, wait, wait.

How do you plan on running 3200MHz RAM with i5 6500?

Please, before you buy anything post all specs.

Yes, R5 1500X is better than i5 6500 (avoid R5 1400 it has worse cooler and less cache and lower clocks than the 1500X).

Faster ram isnt that important for Intel, doesnt really help past about 2800 (2400 will be fine), but is really help for for Ryzen (Faster the better for it, better to get that over the i5 anyway).

It doesn't make any difference for gaming if your GPU is the bottleneck.
