NOOOOPE don't hybrid crossfire if you're going for something new, the R7 260X fits your budget perfectly, comes with two games and it'll be a whole different level of performance.

Isn't a 7850 cheaper and outperform a 260x?

Get a last gen amd card. Although you might be bottlenecked by the cpu if you are gaming the only part that is going to get you more performance is a graphics card.

Its $20 over your budget but for a 7870 for $170 is pretty dam cheap... I got a 7870 its a beast and can run most games at max settings besides crysis 3/far cry 3 those types of games

Is the CPU really a bottleneck? It's basically an FX 4300 and once you turn off the the graphics core overclocking can only increase.

this is a good idea but you may or may not be ably to find an r9 270 (non x) for 150. Especially on black friday / cyber monday.

The first step to insanity is believing in your sanity.

It won't bottleneck anything up to a 7950.

What kind of games do you play? I'd personally get a 7770 and a ssd but you could get a 7850 if you really want the gaming performance.

Sorry for the late night reply, mostly minecraft, skyrim, some bf3, and pretty much a bunch of directx 9 games. I actually really like the 7770 and a small ssd idea.

A 7850 would perform admirably for those games. The 7770 would do the job but not as well.

At this point it's really up to you. If you think you can get a ssd later soon after the 7850, go for that. Otherwise, don't miss out on the ssd experience and go with the 7770.
