So I ended up returning a MacBook Pro I bought for college and have $2700 dollars to build a pc. I also need to get a monitor, mouse, and keyboard. I am going to have it built at a micro center and buy everything there since I don't think I could do it myself. But I don't know if a gtx 1080 or 1080 ti would be right for me, I want to game at 1440p with high frame rates and have it a little future proof. I also don't know what kind of CPU and how much ram to get or pretty much anything else since I was always a mac guy. I do want the graphics card to be a founders edition. Can you guys help me out? It's going to be for gaming. (I guess I can use my old MacBook for school stuff.)

Do you want one monitor or multiple? Monitor, mouse and keyboard are preferential . Let's count, correct me, like 500$ for a decent monitor (cheapest 144hz 1440p i found was 450$) and about 200-300$ if you went for a better mouse+mechanical keyboard combo.

Leaving 1900-2000$ for the pc.

The editing seems very light and not like the stuff a 1700 can lift it's legs in, so I think 7700k would be a better option
