Windows 10 EXTREMELY Slow. Help!

Therim

So today, I was casually streaming vids from youtube, then I think a buffer hit it and video stopped working. Then I pressed esc to exit the fullscreen , then chrome completely stopped working and made pc work slower, so I did a casual "hold the power button" trick

The thing is, now when I start the PC, applications dont open. Only steam opened a "updating" bar 1 hour later I turned the PC on. I tried to go to the settings to do a factory reset but even I click the windows button, it either doesn't open or types a letter of reset every 20 mins. I also tried to do ctrl+alt+delete, to check task manager, taks manager opened half an hour later and there was nothing out of ordinary.

So I think the best solution is to factory reset the pc but I can't access it. Oh by the way pc's completely fine at the login section. So is there any way to factory reset without needing to login to the pc? And if it includes a bios thing, I can't do it because I'm using a laptop. Or is there any other ways to solve this. Please let me know

Open CMD, type in shutdown/r /o /t 0, then find Reset this PC(I think it is under recovery or something).

it's a laptop then yes?

if so, did you drop it, or hit ti against something? or put your bag down a little to hard recently? if so, your hdd could be damaged.

yes, but if your hdd was already slightly damaged, the stress on the drive from use (windows installing updates and crap) for example, could push it over the edge and make it break...

do you have any spare 2.5" HDDs or SSDs you could try? Otherwise try installing windows or linux onto an external drive using another PC and see if the laptop works off the USB... if it does then the HDD is likely bad
