with this you can dedicate 4 cores and 4 threads to each machine

with your current you will only be able to get 2 cores and 2 threads per person

Would that really affect the performance, I mean, I have built computers with i3 and they game really well.......

As far as I know at least one core has to be dedicated to the host linux system. This means you'd have to split your cpu 2/1 for the windows vms. Running modern games on a single core, single thread cpu is pretty much impossible aside from some exceptions. This same reasoning would go for the ryzen as well, although of course with twice as many cores and 4 times as many threads it should be much less of an issue.

However, if you're buying a new cpu, graphics card and motherboard anyway you might as well build a second system in my opinion. The extra 200 bucks for a psu, case and ssd/hdd are worth the expense given the hassle they would spare you.

So I was thinking of doing a replica or 2 gamers 1 CPU so my brother and I could play video games. I just needed somewhere to start regarding the CPU, I currently have an Intel i5 7600k. I was just wondering if the i5 would be enough or if I needed to upgrade to a more beefy CPU.

Ryzen 7 1700 with b350 mobo is required then. 4 cores and 8 threads per user will be better than just 2 cores and 2 threads. No need for an x370 mobo since the extra M.2, NVMe etc are not used by most people.\

The best option is still building 2 independent PC nonetheless

Im pretty sure that in the original video of 2 Gamers 1 CPU, Linus said that using Intel would be the only option because of a setting that is required

no

virtualization support was released in the new agesa update and it should be releasing as a bios update for motherboards soon
