You can try it both ways and record temps, I cannot say what will be best in your application, I would use the rear fan as an exhaust as it is near the cpu.

Yes hot air rises, and you want the exhast by the CPU/VRM to prevent any stagnation of that air.

Shouldn't matter much. My case is hanging under table 65mm from wall and there's nothing wrong. What CPU cooler, case and GPU you have? Unless your CPU cooler blows air towards top or is down-draft, rear intake wouldn't do much good.
