Ladies and Gents:

I'm trying to price out a budget build for a friend.  He games on occasion and does a little bit of photo work.  I've got the following build, and I am looking for a decent way to lower the cost without sacrificing performance or quality.  Do you have any recommendations?  I doubt he would overclock, so I could probably drop to the A series chipset.  That's the only thing I can think of.  2400MHz memory is barely cheaper than the 2666MHz.

Is this supposed to be a black/red aesthetics build? Also, what is his budget?

No, the case could go cheaper as long as it's not a flimsy piece of junk.  I would be building it and buying the components.  I just think of the S340 as a decent case.  His computer's so ancient that anything will be a wonderful upgrade.  Was hoping for less than what's currently in the part list in terms of cost, but no real set budget.

I could make anything from a $1,000 build to a $500 build. I need a budget even if it just the highest you are willing to go.

Let's say what I priced out initially is basically the top end of the budget.  I'm interested to see what you can make for $500 though.

We'd have to wait for Ryzen 3 to make a $500 Ryzen build. I can do $500 for Intel though.
