So I'm planning on upgrading my GPU to a RX 570 and I just remembered that my monitor has Freesync, so I'm wondering what it does exactly and how it works. Just need a quick answer, not a wall of text (not a fan of reading)

It reduces, or completely removes screen tearing. It's like Vsync, except without the input lag. Makes everything appear much smoother and fluid.

You need a DisplayPort cable for it to function. make sure you have one of those laying around because they won't be included with your RX470.

There are no downsides, other than having to buy a displayport cable maybe. Enable and enjoy.

Personal build >  New-ish AMD main gaming setup
