Hello, I have a little problem. This is my 300W power supply. All modern graphics cards require at least 400W PSU and PCIE power cable.

I am thinking about adding the new GT 1030 graphics card.

My PC:

Motherboard:   ASUS P8H61-MX R2.0/SI

CPU: Intel Celeron G540
RAM:       4 GB
SSD:        256 GB
HDD:        500 GB
PC has one fan at the back and one on the CPU. 1x CD/DVD mechanics. Then it has also 4 USB ports and an SD card reader.

I don't quite understand what's written (in the picture). Could this PSU handle all this stuff?
And right now I have realised one more problem. My CPU might not support PCIE 3.0... will GT 1030 work in 2.0? Or did I misunderstand something?

Sorry for my English, I'm not native speaker :(

PCIe 3.0 is bacwards compatible with 2.0 so it should work fine.

As for that PSU, it should be able to handle your system if you only look at it's rated power output, but I wouldn't trust it that much. I'd get something a bit more powerful (350-400W) as soon as I could.

I am afraid of cable management, there is not much space :/

By the way, do I need to update BIOS to have new components in the PC? I have never done it before and don't want to mess up anything there.

No, you dont need an update, it only applies to z170 and kaby Lake combos. Dont be scared of the management it is fairy easy, but select a psu with all required connectors, otherwise you will have to get molex adapters, and that sucks.

Don't.  It's terrible for the price.  If you want to add a cheap GPU, find a used 750 Ti or something.

I would, but GT 1030 needs less watts.

The 750 Ti gets all its power from the PCIe slot.  It's absolutely fine.

And is your Asus board standard? Do you have a prebuilt system? If yes than check does the mobo take standard 20+4 pin power.

Yeah, it is prebuilt system. I don't quite understand what you mean if motherboard takes 20+4 pin power. (I'm beginner when it comes to IT technology)

If it's an additional power cable for GPU, it's not there. I had trouble finding an additional power cable for SSD, but I found one luckily... the PSU is located on the upper corner of the case. If I bought a new PSU, it would be very hard to replace etc... I would rather build a whole new PC xD

Ok. If you have your PC near you could you snap a picture of the motherboard? I will be able to identify the power connector type

But what is your PSU? I'm very much afraid the PC would catch fire xD

Adding that card will bring your max usage to around 200W.  You'll be fine.  Manufacturers don't build a computer with PCIe slots and not give you enough power to use them.

You don't need any with a 750 Ti.

Ok it is a standard motherboard. You are fine. Id recommend a corsair psu 500 Watts for example.

That's totally unnecessary.  You don't need a 500W PSU for a maximum of 200W.

your PSU will be fine for up to a gtx 1050ti, after that you'll require a PSU upgrade to use anything better.

@OP if it's in your price range, I agree with this.

Guys, in the specifications of GTX 750 ti, they say I need at least 400W PSU. GTX 1050ti looks better, only needs 300W minimum... I would rather be safe and plug in the GT 1030 to the PCIE 2.0 slot. Look at the picture of the PSU, there are some rails with different amps, voltage, combined 19A.... come on, that thing will blow up xD

I just like future proofing things. More wattage - less problems in the future.

You mean when he decides he needs a GTX 1080 Ti? 9_9

It doesn't need it.  That's a recommendation if you've got much more power hungry components already in your system.  It's just a way to cover themselves.  If you wanted to upgrade anything else in your system, you'd pretty much have to start over.

Run this through a power calculator, you'll see what I mean.
