Hi guys,

So I have a weird project that needs a weird cooling solution. I need to cool down a i5  6600. So my cooling has to be smaller than 12 mm so my Idea was to take a 12mm cooper block put it on the CPU and on the other side of the Cooper block will be a 30x17cm metal sheet that disipates the heat.

The heat will make this path:

CPU --> 12mm Cooper block --> Big metal sheet to disipate the heat

I will have a tiny fan that blows on the metal sheet.

Will it work ?

Any other solutions.?

Thanks for help.

You will need to have a method of directly interfacing the CPU block to the plate as most are designed with channels for water. You would be better having a solid section to connect the plate to the CPU using ideally heatpipes to transfer it away.

Ok i need to replace the block of Cooper with heatpipes. But where can i find some Custom heatpipes ? I didn't find any on Ebay.

You could direct heatsink a solid block then bolt the heatsink plate on top as long as it's hefty enough and has enough surface area for cooling, say finned or ribbed. Ideally if it's carried away to a heatsink array using a heatpipe that is a little better, there are a lot of options for standard sized heatpipes directly from manufactures, and even places that will do custom work.

Here is one that I know of from another forum user who did a custom minerial oil build.
