You referring to my 4016 score? My 980 Ti only clock at 1430mhz in that benchmark.

No I'm referring to Tytan64's score which was 4003, I got 3994.

Hey guys!

I was thinking of upgrading my GPU from a GTX 760.

My two options are:
GTX 980Ti (used) for £250
GTX 1070 (new) for £350

Both have very similar Pass Mark benchmarks, but the 980Ti edges it. 1070 has more VRAM though...
Which one would you choose? And is the £100 extra for the Pascal card worth it over the 980Ti?

(Rest of my system is: 3570K @ 4.2GHz, 16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, RM850 PSU, Z77 Motherboard)

Was that Asus Strix GTX 980Ti for sale on gumtree? from a user with nickname "A"? In Cardiff area?

It wasn't I'm afraid, it was a friend of mine not advertising to sell.

Aaa...alright then. Just asking as I had one for sale on gumtree for £250.

Good decision in not buying it as it gets really warm/hot. For the time I had it in my PC (true, I used to have bad airflow inside my case + stock shitty fans) the card was staying constantly at 83 degrees when playing World of Tanks in 1440p ultra settings 144hz, and on top of that pretty loud as well.

Then I found an EVGA GTX 980Ti SC on gumtree for £250, negotiated for £215, installed in my PC and boom huge difference in temps but not as much in sound department (fan curve was a little bit aggressive). But fear not as I bought another GTX 980Ti, now the hybrid one for £250 and 6 x Corsair AF120 fans in the case. Now never gets over 65 degrees (bear in mind that the case still has bad airflow).

P.S. You can check my PC in my signature or search bad temper).

Cheers.

I said no to my friend because he didn't really want to sell it. He just offered me it if I wanted it, as he doesn't game much, and he had an old Radeon card that would do the job for him. 980Ti was a gift I believe.

I then went onto eBay and bought a EVGA 980Ti SC+ for around the £250 mark anyway, so it all turned out okay in the end. The EVGA card is great for me so far, temps are good as far as I know. My case does have amazing airflow though, being a Full tower Corsair 760T.

If I were you I would've chosen gift over eBay. I wouldn't care about the temps as long I wouldn't pay a pence for it and especially that you have a full tower and really good airflow.

"Anyhow" enjoy your 980ti ;). My £215 evga 980ti sc is now going in the new build which will be up for sale soon :D

@r3loAded

Ah, the gift was from someone to him... He was selling to me at £250 haha - So to let him keep his 980Ti, i bought one at £250 elsewhere :D

I love that case! I really contemplated possibly getting rid of my 760T for one of those, but the 760T is also a beautiful case, so I stuck with it!
