Build a Linux system PC for programming on a budget

Hi guys 

 

I want to build a  PC operating Ubuntu (Linux)  within 1000usd.

I am using it for programming c++ Java etc. and one monitor is enough. 

 

why:

because I want to run window and ubuntu same time on two different monitors. Or Is there any software I can use to do it in one PC...please tell me.

 

any recommendation !!!!!!!

If you don't need any hardware graphics acceleration for one of those OSes, you could do your work on a VM.

VirtualBox on a Windows host works pretty well for a Linux guest.

I assume that gaming isn't really the focus here, so I made a build that favors cpu cores and more storage over gpu prowess. Originally I planned to put in 32gb of ram, but my brother, who is working a lot in virtual environments himself, said that if you are running 1 vm at most times, 16 gigs are perfectly fine.
