Actually viable 120Hz 4K TV that you can actually afford?

James_AJ

From the reviews, it looks legit. I would grab one right now if I had the money.

The question is, how do we push 120Hz on 4K?!

HDMI goes up to 30

Displayport goes up to 60(?) [Need confirmation]

Not to mention the hardcore hardware needed xD

They don't talk about 120 different FPS, they talk about 120 flickers/second. It's just a trick used by TV manufacturers to make the image seem smoother

How many budget 4K TV threads are we gonna make? I think this is the third one I've seen today. We should consolidate all the threads as a list of TV's not to buy, and why.

Its not actually 120hz people! Pretty much no TVs are! it is just a trick manufacturers use to make their products look better. That TV will run at 30fps which IMO is unsuitable for PC usage.

Technically speaking, it has 4 HDMI inputs, which is enough to push 120Hz... though I don't think there's software to support it, there probably aren't that many options for outputting 4 HDMI signals anyway, and I'm guessing that's probably not how it's intended to be used.

I do wonder though, are people just assuming that the 120Hz is referring exclusively to the backlight, or is there actual info somewhere that says so?

Display marketing and unclear specification is my least favourite part of technology, by far.

120Hz CMI refresh rate... what does CMI mean? I can't tell if it's a real acronym or something they made up.
