touchpad scrolling problem

Go to solution Solved by Ashleyyyy,

thanks all for replying, but i sold that laptop about 6 months ago..

hello,

on my laptop, if i use 2 finger scrolling in certain applications, mainly spotify, it scrolls way too fast. i can move my fingers a couple millimeters, and it will scroll through 10-15 songs.

this happens in another application, but i can't remember what app it was.

my laptop is a lenovo g50-45 and has a ELAN Smart Pad touchpad in it.

my OS is Windows 10.

also, on ubuntu this issue doesn't happen.

Disable mouse acceleration.

Search: Mouse -> Advanced settings -> Pointer options (third tab) -> unchecked first checkbox.

if your location is correct this might help out more:

Zoeken naar muis -> extra muisopies -> opties voor aanwijzer -> Precisie van aanwijzer verbeteren.

Or just search for 'mouse' and fiddle around with those settings

I have problems with win 10 in my laptop installing MS's proprietary touchpad drivers that have terrible movement detection.

After every win 10 update I need to reinstall the original drivers for my touchpad.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

  • 8 months later...

I had this problem with discord and a few other applications, I found a reddit post that fixed this issue for me. I know this is really late but if anyone else has this problem try this. (Exact word for word post from reddit user naked prince

"I was messing around with the registery settings for the elan software and managed to solve this somewhat, here's what i did.

1.open regedit.exe using run

2.go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> SOFTWARE -> Elantech -> Smartpad

3.change ScrollControl_Mode from 0 to 1

4.open the elan software and apply just to make sure the settings gt applied

Its still faster than normal scroll but far more controllable

Hope this works for you guys aswell :)

Edit: if you change the number of lines to scroll in the Devices Settings to 3 then it works better.

Edit2: glad it worked for you, Thank you for the gold :D"
