So i got my new system now and wanted to set up everything properly and overclock it.

Ryzen 7 1700 + MSI X370 Gaming Pro + 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 3000Mhz 15-16-16-35.

So if i dont set the clocks manually the cpu will only run at 1.55Ghz so i set the clock to a fixed 3Ghz in the bios and disabled boost but it somehow still boosts to 3.2?

Also if i set my 3000 XMP profile the system wont start, it just keeps restarting a couple of times and then just resets the ram clocks to 2133 and boots normally.

Now the funny thing is when i set my 2666 Profile first and reboot into bios again and then change to my 3000 xmp profile it runs fine?

In terms of temps my CPU idles at 39-41°C with a ambient at around 27-30°C so i think thats fine, load temperatures are at around 61-62°, im using a Thermalright Macho X2.

Vcore is at around 1.040-1.056v i wanted to oc some, what is the max voltage i should go for everyday use? How high can i go in terms of temperatures?

Most processors run at about 1.3v, maybe that is causing the weird behavior?

I run the C6H but I think I know what's happening. If the RAM fails to boot, rather than going through a boot look like Intel, the frequency and timings are dropped to stock. Took me awhile to figure that out.

RAM speed matters more in most tasks than 100MHZ core. Also different from Intel. So overclock your RAM as high as it will go manually, then raise the core clock until you lose stability.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
