That link has info on the various packages currently available for the Arma 3 Alpha.

The Alpha build has no story line or any type of campaign. It simply consists of a few showcase missions which take you through various places of the island showing off the basics from infantry, to vehicles, to helicopters, to scuba diving.

Once fully released their will be a story campaign; take directly from the wiki. *everything subject to change during development*

"ARMA 3 is set in the near-future, during the mid-2030s, where NATO forces deployed in the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea are trying to hold off a massive Iranian military offensive from the east. During the singleplayer campaign, the player will take the role of a British Special Forces soldier, Captain Scott Miller. Initially, the player must survive on their own after friendly forces are defeated in a failed NATO operation. During the campaign, the player will face everything from lone wolf infiltration missions to the commanding of large scale armored operations. The player will be able to choose different objectives and weaponry (such as UAVs, artillery, and air support) according to their play style"

The Arma 3 Alpha Lite has NO multiplayer (online or local), No modding support, and very limited editor functionality (can't save)

The Alpha Lite expires June 18th 2013.

The Alpha Lite needs to be viewed as a TECH demo, not a game, nor a game demo. It will show off a bit of the engine, combat, and various vehicles you will also get a taste of the possibilities that can be achieved through the mission editor.

Use the arma 3 alpha lite to see if the game runs on your computer. If you think you might enjoy it, buy one of the alpha packages. The price is cheap right now, and will get more expensive further along game development.

The Arma series is built upon community generated addons, mods, and missions. Make sure you take a look at whats available, and what has been created in the past for arma 2.

Arma is a tactical military sim with a higher than average learning curve. It is not a run and gun arcade shooter. If you are expecting to find BF3 or COD style gameplay you will not find it. You will need to plan attacks ahead of time, move covertly, and use cooperation to succeed in objectives.

There are no stats, achievements, or leaderboards. The only thing driving you forward is teamwork and completing objectives.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

armaholic is a good website too see what is planned in the modding form for arma 3, one mission file I've been playing heaps is wasteland (multiplayer).

arma is well known to be a hard game to run since its optimization is abit odd, but I've got an old 480 and a 1366 i7 and its running okish

Its all about those volumetric clouds
