Hi, I recently started gaming more on my PC and while playing Metro Last Light today I noticed my cpu temperature was getting a little high (low 80s). I'm not sure if this itself should be a concern, but I've had overheating problems before with my PC shutting down and I'd like to avoid that again. I have an AMD FX-8350 and I'm using a hyper 212 evo heatsink. I have tried replacing the thermal paste on the heatsink before and that had little effect. I would appreciate any help or suggestions on what to do now to lower my temps as to avoid any future problems. Thanks.

is it thermal throttling? I believe the max for fx chips around 65c but if it's not dropping core speed it's probably a misreading from the software you're using. Amd doesn't have a temp probe but uses an algorithm to calculate the current temperature.

As far as I can tell there is no thermal throttling. Never experienced any lowered frames while gaming at least. I am using Core Temp to monitor so that could be misreading the real temperature. Is there a better software I could use to monitor?

Amd overdrive is great for it though it won't show up it games.
