Pc won't boot - mobo error 00

Hi all,

 

About a month ago my PSU burnt out and stopped working. My pc has been working well and without issues for over 3 years, I would suspect a surge occured. 

 

I have since gotten a replacement for my PSU which is nearly identical to the previous. 

 

The issue is now when I try to boot up I get an 00 code on my maximus Hero Vi mono and a solid led light beside "CPU led". All fans are running, GPU fans spinning etc. 

 

Naturally I would believe my CPU has failed but I find it strange that my CPU would break as I was under the belief that the hero mobo had anti-surge.

 

Just wanted to see if anyone else had any advice on the subject as replacing the CPU will be expensive so I would like to confirm if it really is the issue.

Check in the manual. It should have a section that tells you what all the codes mean.

Yes the 6 pins are connected in the top left of the mobo.

6..? You mean 4 or 8?

The mobo is over 3 years old, not sure I still have the manual. I've read online that 00 means bad CPU or motherboard.

Sorry I meant 8, two sets of 4 pins.

Check on Asus' website, they should have the manual in the support section.
