Bios version and cpu

Hi,

 

My friend wants a new cpu, The AMD FX-8350. His mobo is MSI 970A-G43 PLUS and his current cpu is the AMD Athlon II X3 450
I've read that the Bios version could be a problem. Because it can be outdated or something like that. His bios version is v1.2.

Could someone tell me if it is a problem or not. And what is the best solution when it is a problem other than upgrading the bios, because there is a risk at bricking the pc and I don't want that.

It is problem. Just update BIOS.

Or if he is ready to spend $500 on Ryzen that will be good also :\

Cause Ryzen completely deleted FX's from shelfs (except Croatia where Ryzen didnt even come)

I know the Ryzen's are better, but they don't have the right socket. they have AM4 and the mobo only supports am3 and am3+

I know it doesnt support but Ryzen is much much better than FX

There is no good reason to get an fx processor in 2017, I suggest your friend save up for something decent like ryzen.  If they don't want to listen to reason updating the bios is mostly just following the proper steps and making sure you don't lose power or shut it down while it's updating because that's how you brick a mobo
