A friend of mine is giving me an i7 4790k and I have an msi h110 eco mobo will these two work together or do I need a new Mobo

No it will not unfortunately as the 4790K uses the LGA1150 socket while the MSI H110 Eco uses LGA1151.

No. The i7-4790K uses the LGA1150 socket while the H110 ECO uses a LGA1151 one.

Keep mind that a i7-4790K is best paired with a Z97 motherboard and uses DDR3 memory.
