Why do you need one? Is your onboard giving you noise?

The dac is not the thing holding you back but the amp. But even that is not holding you back. I'm using DT880s right now on my ITX board and it works perfectly.

I have the 770-250ohm and they work fine without an amp. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy a dedicated amp, but I think you should get the headphones, try them out, and then assess the need for additional amplification. I will say a dedicated amplifier will probably give you better bass. But I'm not sure how you would notice that if you don't have the headphones first.
