4k in 1080p game.

Hey guys, I got quite the unusual problem.

 

I want to play a game called "mobile suit gundam online"  but the game only support a max of 1080p in the option menu, it also doesn't go higher then 1080p in the nvidia game optimizer. I've already tried looking around in the games settings file but changing the resolution there only makes the game crash. I can provide screenshots of the game settings menu and of the setting files I've been able to find.

kind of defeats the purpose of having a 4k display doesn't it?

But I won't truly mind, but I have no clue how to upscale it properly, because in 1080p fullscreen it is just the upper left corner that is the game.

Scale the monitor down to 1080p when you play the game? I'll look and see if you can get upscaling software or something.

I managed to properly upscale it by using borderless gaming and well it still is 1080p but at least it displays properly.

but now the mouse isn't in the same location as in the os in the game.

Looks like a pretty simple game. It should be easy to upsavlemit to 4K. Is there a modding community?

I don't really know, the game's in taiwanese and there is only a small english community.

Drat. Play Battlefront II? There's a huge modding community for that, and you could probs upscale it to 4K. I've played it on a 1366x768 computer and it lets me go to that resolution, then on a 1080p screen and it lets me go to that resolution, so maybe it can go to 4K?

In the video settings on. Battlefront II (2005), it lets me go to that native resolution of whatever device I'm playing on. IDK if it's the same for MSG.

Nope, it stops at 1920x1080

just find the settings.conf or similar file, find the video settings, and input whatever resolution you want. I did this to get unreal tournament 2004 to run at UHD and it worked perfectly

There are multiple though, and even in those multiple there are a couple different ones that have to do with resolution, how do I go about finding the right one?

it usually fairly obvious, ittl be in the root of the game installation most of the time

There isn't one, but I suspect I found the right one in a subfolder called config, I will attach it here so that you can take a look at it

use_settings.txt

there is a another folder in there with another use_settings.txt that contains different info, what's this one

Huh. Battlefront 2 isn't letting me go to 1080p on an external display. It might have to go to the native res of the computer. And have you taken a look at the mods?

Nope, as far as I can see there are no mods for this game.

try change these

 

<window_x value="0" />
    <window_y value="0" />

 

change the zero for your x and y resolutions (don't get them the wrong way round  )

Make sure and save an unedited copy of the file as a backup.

that second one you posted doesnt have any video settings in it, not sure what the file is for

I did it, saved up a back-up, made the file read only, because else it will just reset back to 0, but only sound of the game is playing, the game is on my bar but when I click on it it shows it for a brief moment and then it's gone again.
