Anything from seasonic your fine with, same with XFX minus XT series, any EVGA with a 2 or greater next to a letter that has an efficiency rating.

The series that he listed are a good place to start.  EVGA SuperNOVA G2 and Corsair RMx/AXi Series are my go-tos.

It isn't worth the trade-off that you are facing for a balanced build. In my opinion, I would always take a more balanced build than a CPU or GPU heavy based rig. If your build is unbalanced for certain perspectives, be it CPU or GPU or even ram for that matter then it means that you may be crippling your own performance in some instances.

Well I mean 4c/8t oc to 4 GHz/Gtx 1070/8 Gb ddr4 2800 with a 15 cas, so unless your referring to the hdd... if anything the gpu could be better lol, ill probably through in a vega core since itll be out by the time he will be buying it

But a 250 GB 960 evo could fit into his budget, thanks for the idea I guess

Not true, evga and corsair make crappy psus too.

1. Why? because all the power supplies I've ever dealt with below 650W are sketch AF.

2. EVGA SuperNOVA and Corsair AXi/RMx are my go-to choices.

3. Mostly I was saying that any PSU under $40 (really under $50) is sketch to me

4. I would much rather have an SSD than the slight bump from RX 580 to 1070.

1- That means literally nothing. Completely anecdotal and nonsensical.

2- SuperNOVA could be G1, which are trash. AXi are expensive af. RMx are meh.

3- Again, that means literally nothing.

4- It's not a "slight bump" from an RX 580 to a GTX 1070.

OP - You can't have a system with a GTX 1070 and not have an SSD, that's ludicrous. Either add an SSD or get rid of the GTX 1070 and get an SSD as well as better quality parts elsewhere.

Worse case, worse GPU and $250 more expensive? 960 EVO is pointless.

Better CPU comparatively to OPs first list. SSD, a good HDD decent size (subjective) better PSU, better ram.

Yes, but you sacrificed fairly significantly on the GPU and case, and then went like 30% of his budget, over budget. The storage is stupid as well, 960 EVO is a waste of money, as is a WD Black. You can get a 2TB HDD for less than half that price, and you can get a 240GB SSD for like $80, it's not worth the $50 premium for the 960 EVO if it's not going to be utilised. The RAM isn't really "better", there's just twice as much of it, for more than twice the price.

THE ram is better. Watch Linus's video then. Ryzen needs ram speed for ocing due to infinite fabric. I'll link sources but you can see between 5-15fps difference from ram on ryzen atleast. The SSD has very good preformance it is well worth it especially with this budget. I said the HDD is subjective but quite frankly it had the best reputation for this particular model. $1000 budget. Not over, look at other posts in this thread. Although yes I sacrificed on the GPU but look at the "significant" bump in CPU. 2 more cores, 8 more threads. This is more well rounded and the power supply is better.

so for $250 I got better storage, an SSD, a better PSU, better CPU and better ram with more of it.

Keep in mind that some games don't care about RAM speed

A NVMe SSD and WD Black HDD don't provide more performance, save the money for a better GPU instead, money is not wasted on unnecessary parts

It doesn't "need" fast RAM, it likes faster RAM. However, you do understand that you can overclock RAM, right? And beyond 2933MHz, the differences are much more minimal. As well as the fact that a low of B350 chipset motherboards are limited to 2933MHz anyway.

4 hours ago, Aleksiandrovich said:

No, it's not worth it. Especially with this budget. It's entirely unnecessary for average consumers. There's literally no reason to spend the extra $50 for it. Or, you know, you could get a SATA SSD with twice the capacity for the same price.

4 hours ago, Aleksiandrovich said:

I said the HDD is subjective but quite frankly it had the best reputation for this particular model.

You said, and I quote "HDD decent size (subjective)" implying the capacity is subjectively decent? Regardless, it's just a 7200RPM 2TB HDD for twice the price of other 7200RPM 2TB HDD's. It's a waste of money.

4 hours ago, Aleksiandrovich said:

$1000 budget. Not over

Obviously I was going with the original budget of $785. Also, in case you weren't aware, $1050 is in fact over $1000 anyway.

4 hours ago, Aleksiandrovich said:

It's not a "significant" bump in CPU. It's 4 more threads, not 8. The extra threads are pretty useless for gaming.

4 hours ago, Aleksiandrovich said:

It's definitely not more "well rounded" with a PoS $20 case, 2 DIMM slots, an unnecessary SSD, and wasted money on the HDD.

4 hours ago, Aleksiandrovich said:

AND sacrificed greatly with GPU and case. What OP was originally looking at, with the cheapo PoS case you recommended and an RX 580 would be $650, so it wasn't "for $250", it's $400 more for what you recommended.

OP-

For $785, I'd recommend that. Yes, you sacrifice the GTX 1070 for an RX 580, but you have XFire support, a nicer/better case, a better motherboard, an SSD, better CPU, and a better quality PSU.

If you really want the GTX 1070;

Of course with either of this, you can drop the 1600 to the 1400 if you want. Even if you go with the RX 580 option for $785, I'd recommend the Rosewill PSU that I included with the 1070 option since it's a better PSU for only $10 more. Also, with either option, I would recommend getting a 240-256GB SSD instead of the 128GB.
