Upgrading my rig

Go to solution Solved by Cyracus,

for overclocking on the cheap a cm hyper 212 or cryorig h7, for the best cooling performance lookup cpu cooler reviews for the noctua nh-d15 and pick anything that competes that you like the look of. If you can get a used i7 4770k or 4790k for cheap then that would be a good cpu boost, not really worth buying new though, and I'd suggest a 1070 if you want to keep up with modern AAA titles at max graphics, even OC'd I'm having to turn off some things to maintain that 60fps mark while I save up for a gsync monitor...a 580 8gb will work if you don't mind lowering those settings when needed though

How about getting another 970 for 2-way SLI ?

Would that be actually beneficial compared to 580 8GB or 1070 ?

Keep an eye out for second hand a 4790k/4770k, they will extend the life of your PC even further and will cost very little

As I saw in Battlefield 1 it being CPU hungry game (CPU is at 100% most of the time while being boosted to 3,7GHz from 3,5GHz) this may not be a bad idea in the end

Agree, that can be a dual 7 kit

Well, I can't tell you that, because I don't have the means to test, but was just bringing up the idea. Maybe you could save some money that way and have a very good video quality, being that the 970 itself is a very good GPU.

You could ask Linus to do a review on that :P
