So I have an Asus gaming monitor at 144hz and it has adaptive sync was just asking if it's bad to turn it on because I noticed that I had some screen tearing with it off, i dont want any input lag. also I feel like when I turn it on the screen is at 60 hertz do i get 144 with adaptive sync on.

My PC is a fast boyo:

6700K - 32GB - 1080 - 256GB EVO

^^You don't need more info than this right?^^

You should, turn it on and set 144 hz in windows.

 

Are you using an amd gpu?

Could I have a link to the monitor? Also, use a frame limiter and limit fps to 144, there's no point in going for higher fps.

Dependent on the monitor, some decrease response time when you enable it, some don't.

but in my monitor settings it detected that i have a gtx and turned it into adaptive sync for nvidia

It is possible his monitor also improves other settings when you enable freesync (mine, for example, sets the monitor at 75 hz when you enable freesync).
