I wanted to buy a cheap gpu to play some cs:go with. I went to a place sort of like freegeeks. I think I bought it for $30.

I took it home I placed it into my pci x16 slot.

Connected the two 6pin ports from my psu, then plugged in the dvi cable.

Booted up my computer and had no display.

The fan was spinning fine.

So then I thought I would check my bios and take off my primary init device off onboard and put it on peg. That didn't work. So I believe i selected pci and it didn't work either. I'm not sure what to do now.

edit: I should probably add even when I plugged in my dvi cord to my motherboard, and checked device manager, it wasn't there. And also nividia experience couldn't recognize the card was there.

specs:

gtx 460 768mb ddr5

ga-h55m-s2h

i3 530

8gb ddr3 1333hmz

What card should i get? I don't really want to spend anything more than $120

I'd strongly recommend the following for that budget:

R9 280x, HD 7970, HD 7950, R9 270x, HD 7870, HD 7850, HD 6970, HD 6950

I wouldn't buy an older Nvidia card, Radeon cards mature better.

Get whatever you can find the cheapest above. Note the cards are listed in better-worse order.

See if you can find a used GTX 970 for that price. it would be a really good deal, but I found one for $100

otherwise, a 960 or 770 should work, but make sure they're not the 2GB Models.
