So AMD decides to go full APU. On a FM2+. Wow.

(I've posted a thread a few days ago, an AM3+ Build. But after realising that AM3+ is officially dead, I quickly changed my mind to an FM2+ build, since it'll be hopefully supported by new Kaveri chips.)

I need desparate help on sorting this budget(>£450/$700) AMD build out.

My thought is using a cheap 750K chip until Kaveri comes out, at which point I'll upgrade to it.

But I'm stuck on which GPU to use, and ultimately, whether this is even a right choice - whether choosing FM2+, or even a cheaper Intel Z77 system. Perhaps a cheap Z77 Mobo, and i3 3220 until I can afford to upgrade to 3570K. But I'm not even sure if that's the right choice, since... Haswell.

This month is a hell for builders like me. Screw you AMD, and screw you Intel(Sorry, I'm sidetracking here a bit)

So please, I would be so greatful if any of you could help me out here.

Thanks.

i am not sure what you are going for. Do you need a system to run games on, or are you buying a temporary rig that you will upgrade apu when new one comes out? And then when its too weak for you, you will buy new one or put graphic card inside? Its not meant for gamer, i tell you now, and its definitly not worth the hussle.

Anyway, just so you know you can do it, i made a little build for you, just so you know its possible.

CPU:  Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£154.80 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler:  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (£23.98 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard:  MSI Z77A-G41 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard  (£67.93 @ Amazon UK)
Memory:  PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (£38.25 @ Amazon UK)
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£42.00 @ Aria PC)
Case:  Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case  (£35.94 @ CCL Computers)
Power Supply:  XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  (£49.24 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £412.14
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Now, APU from kaveri will cost around 150$, not sure in pounds tho. It will have 2 modules and graphical performance of 7750. I am not sure you want to play games on that. What i do know, that overclocked 3570k will serve you for a long time, longer than first kaveri that is out, that is for sure!
Then, if you want capable 1080p gaming rig, you would want to take a look at 7770 - 7950 range, depends on your needs and budget. If you can extend your budget for another 50-100 pounds, for christmas or something, then you can afford like a 133 pound 7870xt http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/XFX+DD+Radeon+HD+7870+GHz+Edition+%28Tahiti+LE%29+2GB+GDDR5+Graphics+Card+%5BFX-787A-CNAC%5D+%2B+2+FREE+GAMES%21+?productId=55140&source=skinflint
very good deal

this build, is full of awesome deals. everything will fit and work, cpu fit the case, mobo will do the job

BTW ( anyone knows any better z77 budget mobo? )

Thank you very much.

I appreciate it, and everyone else who has contributed to this thread.

The build will be for gaming, and perhaps the build will be upgraded a year later.

well, i dont know how finitive is the claim from amd that Kaveri will have up to 4 cores ( 2 modules ), but you can have gaming system this week, and not a year later with no performance difference on cpu side

Well, would it better to go for AM 3+, or Z77, so I can later upgrade to the godly 3570k?

But... you can have your 3570k now.

Is there any way you get 70 -90 pounds somewhere, or maybe in a month? So you can buy like 7870.

What games you want to play? What settings? What GPU you want to have?

I'd want at least a 650ti, and am aiming for 760 in the future.

I'll be playing Arma 3, BF4 and etc.

Currently thinking about 650ti and i3 3220

If your gonna play ARMA III your gonna need a much better pc than a dual core and a 650 ti

Which processor do you recommend, considering the fact that Kaveri is coming up?

Arma 3 requires a fairly beefy CPU (ie i5 4760k or an i7 4770k)

Even though AM3+ is dead, it's still a viable option, and a better choice than the i3 at this price point.

If i were you, I would save up more money and and then decide what to do.

When i bought my rig, it was 700 USD.

I wish that i saved up allot more money

Mobo: You will not be able to upgrade to 8 core, take that in mind.

GPU: You can get 7950 for 172$

RAM: enough for now, but 8gb is new standard, and the pny will do the job ( it has heatsinks ) for 30 pounds lol
