Download this and run it on safe mode, it is an application meant to wipe out every bit of display driver in the system but the default Microsoft generic one, doing this ensures there will be no left overs messing up with the current ones, once it is completely wiped out you go and reinstall Geforce Experience.

If you have no video at all from the GPU right now, use On Board graphics to do it.

I figured it out, it ended up being a combination of my monitor, drivers and the dvi port on the gpu

So I bought a 980 and I installed it in my pc and it booted just fine so I installed GeForce experience and then hit the express driver install and when it finished installing the screen went black, I powered down my pc and rebooted it but it just showed the windows loading screen and then a black screen. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I did that, and it launched then when I reinstalled geforce experience it went black again.

then your GPU is probably dead, what is your PSU?

Yep probably the GPU is faulty, the PSU is delivering power right.
