Sennheiser urbanite

Im a big fan of sennheiser headphones and I wanna buy the sennheiser urbanites for college. I own a pair of HD 598SE's and i love them but i want a pair of closed back headphones such as the urbanites for college so sound doesnt leak, but im not sure if i should buy the on ear or over ear/ over ear wireless version of the urbanites?

First off, there's one thing you should 100% do before buying any headphones - go to some audio store and try them. This is the only right way to buy such subjective things.

Usually, over-ear headphones have low sound leakage, but it may vary from model to another.

I'd go with IEM over portable headphones. Better sound isolation, easier to bring around

Haven't heard the HD598 but i can imagine the urbanite sounding quite different so try them before purchase. As for the variations, they should all sound the same, XL should be more comfy.

Here's my take:

Buy the Sennheiser Urbanite (not XL).

Under a $100 you can buy these blindfolded. They sound awesome without any harshness in the highs and mushiness in the bass. They sound pretty wide too.

The XL is an awkward compromise between over ear and on ear. They will just pinch the extremities of your ears being intensely painful over long periods of time.

And yes, the Urbanite is one of the least comfortable headphones. The clamping force is higher than normal, the headband is small and the pads are hard. I can wear them for ~1 hour until my ears get sore. I have a huge head.
