you dont *need* bios updates, but they're made for a reason so you probably should *want* them.

bios updates are actually part of the standard updates we do at work along with drivers, and windows updates o.O

--

also, if anyone's gonna yammer that bios updates can brick your board even if you dont do anything wrong, ~30 computers just the past week, no bricks yet ;)

updated my BIOS yesterady, the the computer lost compleate track of what was a bootable drive and since then, every time i need to start it i have to go via the boot menue, so yah, there are risks involved. anyway almost never do you get any problems but they are around and if you do something wrong or the BIOS file has a slight corruption you could definatly brick your motherboard.

this is a 200 series chipset board, it should work no problem without an update

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
