Overclocking help -first time builder-

I would like to overclock my MSI armor RX580 4gb GPU but I am not sure what to set the voltage at or the multiplier. has anyone overclocked this GPU. I am not looking to push it to the max just a little boost to the stock settings. any input would be great.

GPU overclock does not relate to a "multiplier" at all. That's CPU thing.

Just use MSI Afterburner and see how far you can pull the sliders. Make sure you run stress test to prove its stability. You won't want a sudden crash during games.

Tips are you need to slide the power limit % and voltage % to the max, then start increasing core clock and test stability.

Don't worry about killing the card because of overvoltage, because the built in BIOS of the card already puts a safe limit on how much voltage you can add, it's not like you can keep adding unlimited voltage.

Max power limit allows the card to reach higher clock speed at higher temperature, if you see your temp below 80C, you're good.

You won't kill your card with too high of a core clock so just go to town and see what's stable.

Yeah you're gonna see the system crash/black screen/blue screen/artifact on you if it is unstable but after a restart everything will be back to normal and you have to reduce the coreclock a bit and test again.

Jayztwocents has a great video on how to overclock your graphics card, just search youtube for that video

EDIT: I have the same card rx 580 but from gigabyte and the most I can get it to run stable is 1440Mhz, so let me know what your card is at.

OK. use msi afterburner, and max out the voltage. your card can handle it. after that, begin to turn up the core clock in increments of 25. is it is stable, increase it by 25 again. when it becomes unstable, reduce it by 5s until it works.
