I have a budget of about $400 that I can spend on a GPU.

Currently I have a Gigabyte GTX 970 with an EK Waterblock.

I would like to keep watercooling my GPU.

What video card would you guys recommend that will get me some 1440p gaming along with the card being able to be watercooled?

(AFTER I UPGRADE I DO PLAN ON SELLING THE GTX 970)

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB SL 3600mhz GPU: RTX 3060TI SSD: WD Black 1TB NVME SDD: WD Black 500GB NVME

with the 970 sold you should be able to afford a 1070 with the EK stuff you need.

or, if you can go secondhand, you might be able to get a 1080! they go for about 450-500 euro's here. (secondhand founders' editions)

So Im so out of the loop when it comes to pricing things anymore. What would be a good price for a 970 with the ek waterblock ( i dont have the aircooler at all )

that actually doesn't seem too bad. Im wondering if the jump to a 980TI is cost effective vs going straight to a 1070 or 1080

hmmm i will have to look into that, the most I will be doing with it right now is playing FPS games at 1440p and then iracing at 5760 x 1080 for a triple screen setup. I would live to SLI but that would cost too much and I do not see a huge performance benefit from it.

If you selling the 970 only after the purchase, I suppose you're doing that to keep uptime on computer usage.

In that case $400 won't get you a GTX 1080 unless you get lucky with a sale or buy used. That leaves the GTX 1070.

Use the new card with factory cooler for a bit until you sell the 970 and afford a waterblock for the 1070.

So my problem with using the factory cooler is my entire loop is built with the GPU in place. I can spend $400 on the GPU itself, the waterblock i know is close to $200 i already have budget set aside for that. I just really wanted to know the best bang for the buck type of deal...and what everyones opinions were...my wifes opinion is keep what I have lol

Counting the value of the 970, you can easily afford a 1080 and that is what you should get if you want to drive triple monitors.

Maybe take a up a small loan from family/friend to bridge the shortfall to get a 1080FE? You can repay with interest after you sell the 970.

So I know before iracings latest updates I was running triples with a 970 but its not able to hang any longer..I thank everyone for their input , hopefully i can find another rocking deal on a 1080 in my area and go from there. (im too cheap to buy it new i guess)

WAIT FOR VEGA! It's coming out in the next month or so and we have no idea what the GPU market will look like afterwards. Unless you're a die hard NVIDIA fan, you should wait and at least see what AMD has to offer.

so usually i stick with NVIDIA for intel based systems...i dunno why but i do. As for VEGA i just hope its not something like the RX480 Launch
